FenCon Returns!

Fencon XVIII returns to the Dallas-Fort Worth area September 16-18 at the Sheraton DFW Airport located at 440 W. John Carpenter Freeway in Irving, Texas. The fan-operated science-fiction and fantasy literary and Filk convention has been a staple in DFW since 2004 and is readily anticipated after taking a hiatus during 2021.

For those new to FenCon, it is a fandom of scifi/fantasy with a hodge-podge of other interests thrown in for good measure. Everything from Filk (folk music with scifi/fantasy themes, or as I call it, fictional folk), science programming, a charity auction, writers workshop, costuming and maker programming and guests from all of these topics and more.

I visited FenCon for the first time in 2009, but my most memorable was in 2011 when I got to meet some of my favorite authors such as Tee Morris, Pip Ballantine, Gail Carriger, P. N. Elrod and the late Rachel Caine.

This year the Guest of Honor is Larry Correia author of MONSTER HUNTER NATION published by Baen Books. In fact, he will be part of a pre-FenCon signing and meet & greet at the Half Price Books Flagship store on Northwest Highway in Dallas. More info below.

Have you visited FenCon before? What was your favorite part? Let us know in the comments!
