Got an email from Nightshade Books and though I don’t normally pay attention to them, the title of one book just grabbed my attention. It’s called ‘Jane Carver of Waar.’ See? Grabbed your attention, too. And with the new ‘John Carter’ from Disney hitting the theaters this week, I had to check it out.
It pretty much seems to be an updated version of the original, taking a few liberties here and there, and at one point being called “a loving tribute and scathing parody of the swashbuckling space fantasies of yore.” I might be interested in checking this out when I’m in the mood for something quirky.
Have any of you read it yet or plan on it, and if you have or did, what did you think? If you have no intention of reading this, what’s the turn off?
And last, but not least, what are some other parodies that you’ve read and enjoyed?
